3D LASER SCANNING & MAPPING

3D Laser Scanning & Mapping

Vast Application for any Structure, however Large.
Ideal for Detailed & Complicated Elevations.
Ideal for Hazardous & Inaccessible Locations.
Provision of Point Cloud, exported to AutoCAD/Rendering Software.

Dando Surveying Ltd use Faro Focus 3D scanning equipment, the latest 3D scanning technology, to provide scanning services to the Construction, Architectural, Heritage and Retail sectors, to mention just a few.

Surveys produced using this method are highly accurate and intricate; they can be used for multiple applications and are very flexible. In only a few minutes, the 3D scanner produces dense point clouds containing millions of points that provide incredibly detailed 3D colour images. Multiple scans from different positions can then be automatically placed to create a cohesive point cloud, resembling an exact measurable copy of even the most complex and large structures.

The raw site data is then processed by our highly skilled CAD Technicians, using powerful office based software. The multiple scans and millions of points are stitched together and/or overlaid to provide a complete survey and the data is referenced to control points or the OS grid for accurate positioning.

Once complete, our CAD Technicians can export the data to AutoCAD and Revit modelling software produce AutoCAD 2D drawings or 3D Building Information Models (see BIMS) dependent upon client requirement. We can also provide files in Rhino 3D, Pointools and many more. In addition, we offer 3D PDFs that can be viewed using Adobe Reader making the purchase of specialist software unnecessary.

This type of survey is ideal for large and complicated structures, plus areas of height, danger or restricted access, as the scanning process is remote from the object. It is also used for internal surveys, the delicate fabric of heritage buildings and even machinery, vehicles or steam engines (see example)

Specific areas of experience include:-

Historic Buildings & Listed Buildings such as Churches.
Large Industrial & Commercial Units.
Schools.
